Motivating and engaging children to read: Connecting research and practice
From January – March 2019 we are conducting an online survey to learn more about the practices used in UK primary schools to encourage motivation and engagement in reading. Our research team are planning to use the findings from this survey to inform our future research in this area.
If you are a teacher or teaching assistant based in the UK, who works with children aged 9-11 and have the time to complete our 10-minute survey, we’d really appreciate it! No personally identifiable information will be requested. The survey can be found here:
Growing Up A Reader
We’d like primary and secondary schools in and around Edinburgh to take part in our Growing Up A Reader project. If your school would like to contribute to our evolving understanding of what and why young people are reading, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you!
Our project has been approved by the ethics committee in the School of Education, University of Edinburgh. All researchers have a current PVG and experience of working with children and/or young people. Our research approach is to conduct individual interviews with primary and secondary school students, each lasting approximately 20 minutes.
